Formed over two decades ago as a nonprofit, labor-management cooperative association, Top Notch works to foster a positive exchange between Central Indiana Union Tradesmen and their Contractors to create work that, for many, is the standard by which all other construction projects are judged.  Top Notch is the only organization in Central Indiana that brings together each of the 17 different trade unions and their management counterparts.  As a result, Top Notch plays an important role in providing a forum where both labor and management can come together to help grow the industry as a whole.  Darrell Gossett currently serves on the Top Notch Board of Directors and is on the IBCA Government Affairs Committee.

Top Notch held their Inaugural “Standards of Excellence” State-wide competition in 2010, and ERMCO was named the winner of Contractor of the Year.  Areas in which competitors were judged included training and continuing education, safety, productivity, industry economic development and user and owner satisfaction.  The judges for the awards consisted of leaders of major companies from all facets of the industry such as owners and design firms, among others.  They were not given the names of the companies when reviewing the submissions to ensure a fair competition.
