ORGANIZATIONS WE SUPPORT
ERMCO, Inc. recognizes our responsibility to the community.
We support numerous community organizations and encourage the involvement of our employees in support of the various causes that they feel are important. In many cases, we work in partnership with our employees in their volunteer efforts.
The organizations shown on this page are a few of the groups with which ERMCO and our employees have historically been involved.
Rebuilding Together Indianapolis provides assistance to people who own their own home but who, because of physical limitation or low income, are struggling to cover the costs of home repair. Typically, these individuals have a disability and/or are elderly, but low-income families and non-profit facilities such as schools, shelters and daycare centers are also included.
After months of planning and preparation, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis culminates in a one-day work blitz on the last Saturday in April. This year, the workday was held on April 26, 2008. ERMCO, Inc. was a Block sponsors for this year's event and had teams working on two different houses. This year's event marked the 200th house that Rebuilding Together has helped to revitalize. We truly enjoy being involved in such a great event year after year and look forward to doing the same in the future.
Founded in 2005 by 15 local architecture, engineering and construction firms, ACE's Indianapolis chapter undertake projects that engage our high school students in virtually every phase of the construction process. As project participants, students learn what industry professionals do to solve problems and how they perform the practical tasks involved in transforming an abstract concept into a building. The result is a "real-world" window into the industry and its career potential.
ERMCO is an ACE scholarship sponsor.
Canstruction® is a national charity committed to ending hunger, using "one can" as a catalyst for change. Taking place in over 50 cities throughout North America each year, Canstruction® events are unique design/build competitions showcasing colossal sculptures built from thousands of ordinary cans of food. Highlighting the creativity and compassion of top architectural, engineering and construction firms, these astounding structures are helping to change the world - by lifting the spirits of those in need, by raising public awareness, and most importantly, by collecting millions of pounds of food for local food banks.
2007 was the first year for a Canstruction event to be held in Indianapolis. ERMCO, Inc. was part of one of 13 teams who built giant sculptures out of canned goods in Lafayette Square Mall on June 4. The "Breakfast Club" team consisted of members from ERMCO, Synthesis, F.A. Wilhelm, CES Solutions, Top Quality Glass and Mirror Company, Vector Consulting, ATC Associates, and Woolpert. The team built a giant shopping cart filled with breakfast items including bananas and milk. The shopping cart was one of four teams awarded at the event and it received an honorable mention.
Race for the Cure is an annual 5k Run/Walk that supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Susan G. Komen for the Cure was founded in 1982 on a promise made between two sisters – Nancy Goodman Brinker and her dying sister, Susan Goodman Komen. More than 20 years later, the Komen Foundation is a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world.
ERMCO once again joined Team Clarian in 2008. ERMCO more than doubled last year's team size with over 40 participants including employees and family members. Despite the rainy weather, the race overall had nearly 40,000 participants. The event raised over $2 million, and a large percentage of that money will go towards grants in the state of Indiana. ERMCO, Inc. looks forward to continued involvement in the Race for the Cure in the years to come.
