ERMCO Joins Forces with Front Line Outreach for Canstruction
Monday, August 8, 2011 at 2:24PM ERMCO participated in this year’s Canstruction completion with the Front Line Outreach team. The competition took place at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. Ten teams came together to build their giant structures out of cans on the first day of the fair and the structures remain up throughout the length of the fair.
The Front Line Outreach team consisted of members from ERMCO, Synthesis, F.A. Wilhelm, CE Solutions, Top Quality Glass and Mirror Company, Vector Consulting, ATC Associates, RJE Business Furniture, Commonwealth Engineers and Woolpert. Based on the theme of the fair being "It's Incredible" and the "Year of the Soybean", the FLO Structure was "The Incredible Soybini" - The idea and design was based on Harry Houdini's famous escape from a milk jug trick.
Canstruction®, is a national charity committed to ending hunger, using “one can” as a catalyst for change. Taking place in over 50 cities throughout North America each year, Canstruction® events are unique design/build competitions showcasing colossal sculptures built from thousands of ordinary cans of food. Highlighting the creativity and compassion of top architectural, engineering and construction firms, these astounding structures are helping to change the world – by lifting the spirits of those in need, by raising public awareness, and most importantly, by collecting millions of pounds of food for local food banks.
