The IEJATC is the joint effort of the IBEW and NECA to educate and train a qualified workforce for the complex electrical and
communications projects of today and of the future. The Indianapolis Joint Electrical Training Programs include a 5-Year
Journeyman Wireman program, along with a 3-Year Communications Technician program, which ERMCO was instrumental in assisting to
establish in the late 1990's.
All of the Journeyman Wiremen who go through the program also have the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree from Ivy Tech
College, one of the fastest growing trade related universities in the country. This program has been in place since 1994, and in
the last graduation class, over 95% of the graduating apprentices chose to take the additional training required to earn their
Associates Degree
Finally, the JATC also offers continuing education classes for Journeymen Wiremen and Communications Technicians to provide
them the knowledge needed to keep up with the ever changing technologies incorporated into projects. ERMCO actively encourages
our employees to participate in these classes, in many cases reimbursing any costs associated with the employee's education.
ERMCO employees occasionally even teach these continuing education classes.
ERMCO's active participation in the JATC is embodied in the role of Jim Bewsey, ERMCO Vice President. Jim has served as an
instructor and currently serves as Chairman of the Apprentice Committee. More recently, Jim was appointed by the Executive Director
of the National JATC to be a member of the National Advisors Committee. This honor is in recognition of the great value Jim has
