Rebuilding Together 2008
As part of a nation-wide build day held on the last Saturday of April, many ERMCO employees and their families joined over 750 volunteers to work on 26 homes in the St. Clair Place neighborhood, a part of the Riley Development Corporation. ERMCO was a block sponsor for the event and also took charge of two houses with Jim Bewsey and Tim Lewis leading as house captains.
The day started out with an opening ceremony at the John H. Boner Center. After a welcoming speech from Mayor Ballard, celebrity house captains were introduced including the Butler Women's Basketball Team and Jim and Deb from WFMS. Sponsors were then recognized and presented with posters.
This year's Game Day was a special one as Rebuilding Together Indianapolis was going to be completing work on their 200th home! Ruth Shaw, the 200th Homeowner, was recognized during the opening ceremonies.
ERMCO's two homeowners were Jose and Richard. Work at Jose's house included landscaping, work on his gutters, and creating a new backyard patio. Richard's house received extensive work indoors including painting, help with cleaning, plumbing work, and a new kitchen counter, sink, and stove. He also had gutter work and landscaping done outside. Both homeowners worked alongside with the volunteers throughout the day.
ERMCO employees also participated in the Rebuilding Together Union Build Day held two weeks earlier which invlolved heavier work such as electrical installation, roofing, and drywall repair that would not be able to be completed in a single day.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success!
