ERMCO Hosts ACE Mentorship Students

ERMCO hosted students from Washington High School in Indianapolis for an ACE Mentoring Program subcontractor visit. The visit started out with a tour of ERMCO’s facilities by Vice President, Greg Gossett. The students were then taken to the Edward M. Gossett memorial training room for pizza and sodas. Adam Rude, a member of our construction services team, then gave a presentation on the different areas of electrical construction and ways to get started in both the field and management sides of electrical construction.

The next portion of the visit was a hands-on experience of electrical installation. Before heading out to the warehouse, the students were given a safety tool box talk to discuss the safety concerns of the installation elements they would be performing. ERMCO Prefabrication Manager, Bill Riley, and electricians, Mike Hunter and Steve Jarrett, led the kids through the hands on activity. The activity included wire pulling, wire termination, receptacle installation, switch installation, light fixture installation and in the extra time at the end, a couple of the students and the teacher were able to bend 3/4" conduit with a hand bender.

ERMCO was very excited to provide these students with this experience and are proud to support the ACE Mentorship Program. To find out more about the ACE Mentorship, visit the Indianapolis affiliate’s website.
