The Race is on at the Hoosier Park Complex
ERMCO is off and running toward another winning project at the Hoosier Park Complex in Anderson, IN. Construction Manager, The Hagerman Group is overseeing the construction process. This construction project will transform Indiana’s first pari-mutuel horse racing track into a “racino”. A new 92,696 square foot casino will house over 2000 slot machines. In addition, the existing grandstand and clubhouse buildings are being completely renovated, adding at least two national chain restaurants, several fast food restaurants and potentially, accommodations for live entertainment. The Hoosier Park expects to see three million customers during its first year of operation.
The ERMCO project leaders including Project Manager, Dan Fritsch, Assistant Project Manager, Tony Mendez and General Foreman Jim Beard feel that the project is on schedule even though it is a fast paced job with deadlines quickly approaching.
The project is broken into three main jobs; the grandstand renovation, outside site work (including parking lot poles and underground conduits), and the casino.
Brad Austin, the Foreman for the grandstand project has done a superb job staying ahead of schedule and helping to keep the Off Track Betting running throughout the demolition phase of the project. Mike Carrizales, Foreman over all the site work is responsible for putting up 100 new pole lights and bases. This has been extremely challenging with the less than desirable weather conditions. Daytime Foreman Mike Tasich and night shift Forman Andy Grocox are overseeing the work on the casino. They have been instrumental in the installation of all the underground conduits for the casino and installing 14,000 feet of under floor duct with 7,000 inserts. There will be over 1,200 can lights installed as well.
Kurt Wilson is the Foreman over information distribution and change orders. He organizes, distributes and processes change orders for all the foremen, allowing them to focus primarily on the hands-on work rather than get bogged down with paperwork.
ERMCO is also responsible for the voice/data and the fire alarm systems for the project. Gene Burcham is the Project Executive and Easton Burton the Lead Foreman. 1,000 new voice and data cabling drop locations have been added to the casino and grandstands. In addition, ERMCO has been tasked with upgrading the low voltage infrastructure to re-establish the current standards. All new copper and fiber backbone cables have been run from the main computer room to feed all the smaller computer rooms in the grandstands. To keep everything up and running, (2) one-megawatt generators have been installed.
In spite of the weather, working long hours, maintaining a 24/7 operation and being pushed to work fast but safe, everyone involved with this project has shown the stamina it takes to finish the job professionally and on time. Hats off to all the ERMCO employees involved with this whirlwind project!
