ERMCO team members recognized as IND airport opens

The New Indianapolis International Airport project was one of the largest and most complicated projects in ERMCO's history. The most difficult factor was security concerns as it was the first airport to be built from the ground up since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Recently, two of ERMCO's teams on the project were recognized for their part in helping the airport open securely and on time. Below are excerpts from the letters received:

Bob Pitman, Project Manager Baggage Handling Systems on ERMCO's work to help them gain early TSA certification for the baggage handling system-

"ERMCO, as the electrical subcontractor to Siemens, was in integral part of gaining the early TSA certification for the IND BHS in August 2008 and the successful operation of the IND BHS on opening day. This is no small accomplishment considering the frequency of “failures” of new airport baggage handling systems such as experienced a few months ago at Heathrow in England. Moreover, the TSA would not permit the opening of our new terminal until we achieved their certification.

Your team here performed admirably. Our special thanks go to Dan Fritsch, Lester Dalton, Brad Procter, and Ryan Fagg. Dan is everything we expect in a construction Project Manager. Lester managed your work here when you “crewed up” from about (20) electricians to about (80) in a very short time…, but (he) kept the work on our project organized and orderly with continued high quality work. It is impossible to overstate the importance of the quality of field wiring in achieving efficient start up of complicated tracking logic in our BHS."

Espie Murdock, IBM Project Manager on the ERMCO team that helped them complete the Access Control System within a tight 6 week deadline-

"The ERMCO team’s professionalism, teaming effort, great work ethic, and a general 'let's get this done' attitude propelled our teams to the completion of the outstanding activities and issues. We met our milestone on time - The New Indianapolis Airport opened as scheduled on 11/12/08.

As Project Manager, I know that our chance to succeed and deliver is only as good as the teams that support us. We are very fortunate to have Cain Grocox, John Riley, Steve Poteet, Brad Bond, and the ERMCO team supporting us through the completion of the New Indianapolis Airport Project. Please convey my congratulations to your team. I know that they take pride in their work and I want them to know that they are very much appreciated!"

ERMCO has great people and we are very proud of all of our team members. It is nice to be able to share with others their success when they are recognized such as this. Congratulations to all those mentioned and to their teams that helped on these projects!
