Carmel Performing Arts
Carmel, IN
Owner: City of Carmel
Scope: Electrical & Telecommunications
Scheduled Completion: 11/2010
Value: $10,000,000
The Carmel Performing Arts Center located in Carmel Indiana is intended as the focal point of Carmel City Center, a new Mixed-use development which will serve as the new town center for Carmel. The Performing Arts Center will be a 154,000 square foot 1600 seat concert hall, and will support all forms of classical music. It will also accommodate various other forms of acoustic and amplified concerts and operatic performances.
This project offers numerous construction challenges all centered on maintaining the center’s acoustic values. With numerous interior elevation changes and high dome ceilings coordination with all trades has been paramount.
The project has incorporated the use of (BIM) or 3D modeling as the main form of coordinating the installation of all MEP trades materials. With the help of ERMCO’s Construction Services department and their expertise in 3D modeling along with work assignments and prefab, ERMCO is overcoming the challenges of this project as we now head for the November completion date. -

ERMCO's versatility was highlighted through the custom furniture and custom lighting packages included in our contract. To insure the integrity of the historic building, original light fixtures were refurbished and custom lighting was created to match those fixtures. Custom lighting systems were also incorporated into many pieces of the specially designed furniture such as shelving and computer tables. Another interesting aspect of this project is that over two miles of LED lighting was used.
Our prefabrication department was key to the success of this project. With challenging on-site scheduling and so many unique and custom features, many of the components were constructed and stored in our pre-fab facilities, and then delivered to the jobsite for "just-in-time: installation. -

Value: $600,000 (Dolphin) $9,000 (Meerkat)

Eiteljorg Museum Renovation
Indianapolis, IN
Owner: Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art
Scope: Electrical & Telecommunications
Completion: 2005
Value: $1,000,000
ERMCO, Inc. provided new lighting, distribution equipment, dimming and lighting control systems, and fire alarm systems, as well as demolition work for the 45,000 square foot Eiteljorg Museum addition. This project increased gallery space in the museum by 50%, added a 6,000 square foot education center, a circular sculpture court that accommodates 300 people, a 90-seat cafe with a catering kitchen, and three acres of gardens and terrace leading down to the Central Canal. This project was awarded Honor in Construction at Monumental Affair.
One part of the project that was a challenge was that the existing utility feed to the building ran right where the new addition was going to be built. Power had to be kept to the museum during construction and a temporary feed had to be put in place until the new utility feed was installed. ERMCO, Inc. also worked with the owner to design custom lighting fixtures for the addition that matched existing lighting in the museum. This was a difficult task because of a lack of information about the original lighting. A third challenge was relocating an existing generator system to a new part of the building. -
