The Conceptual Estimator will be responsible for assembling and reviewing a variety of electrical and systems projects. These projects range from healthcare, sports venues, industrial, manufacturing facilities, office, hotels and everything in between. This position requires an individual who has in-depth experience in the details of estimating for these kinds of projects, who can take that experience and apply it to estimating on a conceptual basis, where a written narrative (if available) for a project is translated into a credible estimate, without detailed plans and specs. Ability to analyze and utilize historical data will be a key component of this position.

The Conceptual Estimator aids in the success of project procurement in preparing estimates for review by the director of estimating and executive management by performing drawing takeoffs, equipment and fixture counts, specification reviews, initiating pre-bid RFI’s and preparing all other direct project costs necessary for a complete, and responsible estimate.

Other duties include training junior estimators, preparing project budgets, attending job walks or assisting other departments, such as project management, business development and other managers to help meet strategic goals.

This position must work well in a team orientated atmosphere, communicate fluently with the Estimating Staff, Executives and Project Management and shall exhibit the drive, motivation, tenacity, ambition, and desire to win in support of ERMCO’s goals.

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in engineering or construction management from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related field experience is a plus.

  • Ten (10) or more years of Electrical estimating experience with a complete understanding of electrical and systems components and installation methods plus five (5) or more years of project budgeting experience.

  • Must have a working knowledge of estimating as a discipline, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction as applicable to the electrical contracting business.

  • Must have the ability to perform tasks within Accubid estimating software. Must have strong organizational skills, excellent planning, and communication and team skills. Must be able to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously with the ability to prioritize.
