ERMCO has been named the #1 Large Company in central Indiana’s “Top Workplaces 2017” by the IndyStar. This is our seventh year in a row of finishing in the Top Ten! Of the ninety companies who received top rankings in three size categories, ERMCO was the only construction contractor in the large category.
The Indianapolis Star Top Workplaces rankings are based on survey responses addressing areas such as employee engagement, company leadership, career opportunities, work-life balance, compensation and benefits. Over 18,000 employees from 132 central Indiana organizations participated in the survey process.
In their responses, ERMCO employees describe the company as family- and team-oriented. “They are very supportive when family issues arise. They mean it when they say family first,” survey comment.
It is a place where employees are given the freedom to do the job – and do it right. “We’re not micromanaged at all,” said Mark Reese, a field technician, in an interview with the IndyStar.
“Work is great and I can see what I accomplish each day,” one person surveyed commented.
Strong benefits and the opportunity to grow professionally also rank high with ERMCO employees. In his IndyStar interview, Garrett Homan commented, “I foresee myself being here for a very long time.”
ERMCO become majority employee-owned in 2014 and now employees are on an ownership track from the day they start. “It really helps you take ownership of your work,” said Abe Hundt, project engineer. “You’re constantly looking for ways to improve – to get better at certain skills.
The Top Workplaces survey responses overwhelmingly indicate that the best employers craft a positive workplace culture. The organizations on IndyStar’s 2017 list share a common foundation that supports a healthy culture and employee engagement. Employees want to be well-informed.
